As we walked on, two beautiful blue cranes ate right next to the walking path. Only the wire fence separated us. They didn’t seem disturbed that we stood there.

I can see why the zoo is so highly rated. Most of the habitats were natural and the walking paths were wooded and shaded. I’m glad we went there.

On the canal, there are several locks and they allow you to camp there for free. We stayed at lock 20 just outside Utica.
