Today basically, I just worked and then we met up with Laine in the afternoon. We picked Bangkok Garden, a restaurant just around the corner because it had mediocre reviews on TripAdvisor. It turned out to be really great (if expensive).
We went to bed really early zzzz.
By the way, we got a great deal from Hotels.com for our hotel, BTW. Props to my employee discount once again!
... station which is just a 15 minute walk from our hotel. We took the Southern Train instead of the Gatwick Express train because I read that Southern train tickets qualifies you for 2 for 1 tickets at many attractions in London and I had printed off a bunch of the in the hopes it will save money. And the Southern train is just 5 minutes slower than the Gatwick Express. The tickets were just 24 pounds each including return.
We got a little lost leaving Victoria Station ...

At the end of the half, there were some inspiring words exchanged among the thriller team, and they came out determined not to repeat the mistakes of last week. ... This makes me very angry indeed. If you have no credit, you can’t be called. This also makes me angry. The only SIM card which offered an alternative required me to pay $35 for it, and then to pay $1 a day to avoid incoming calls. No thank you, says I.
The accommodation hunt doesn’t seem to be going so great either. Everyone seemingly either wants a female roommate or someone who’s going to live there for 20,000 years ...

Toronto, Ontario, Canada aarondewitt... To have some structure in my travel, I've decided to enrolled in a Mandarin course at Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) for a semester staring September 10 to January 25, 2008. That way I will learn the language faster, maybe even meet a few more people and not wake up at 1 pm everyday. I've also to decided to start a blog (this one). To record my adventures in Asia. For the next month I will blog about my travel preparations. So stay tune.

Toronto, Ontario, Canada motabchoir01... a Toronto Rock Lacrosse game at the Air Canada Centre, a visit to Much Music and an inside tour, a local gospel church, and a short driving tour of the old city including Yonge Street). We stayed in a YMCA accommodation out in the countryside. We were all given "buddies" from the Etobicoke group, mine was Wahid from Afghanistan. Fun times!
