Tuesday 9th September Another fine day so set off for Exmouth on the south coast. This is where the cyclists will be starting stage five of the Tour of Britain on Thursday. Followed the signs to the coast and managed to get ourselves booked onto a boat cruise this afternoon along the Jurassic Coast. ... There is a little bus that takes you up and down. Next went to Looee which was a disappointment as it is a river port and not very interesting. So the boys and I have spent or final day in Devon with Granny knocking around Exmouth this morning for cake, then Darts Farm this afternoon for a final play and fish and chips. The boys have added a few final acts of destruction to Granny's house before we leave! ... all gone by 1816 and it was empty till they stopped sending the convicts to Australia in 1850 and sent them here instead. Prison still houses 650 or so prisoners, though category C, ones that are not a high escape or security risk, but may be opportunists, whatever that means.
