We read earlier that this area is the edge of the Appalachians and I guess that is why it looked so much like our former home. It was nice to have a slower pace driving vs. the interstate.

Monday morning we headed to Mansfield Ohio. A prison built in 1886, since closed, became the background of the movie Shaw shank Redemption. This is really the main reason we are on vacation. My mom wanted to tour the prison. This massive stone building housed 155,000 inmates until its doors where closed in 1990. There were a few different tours to choose from. ... today...the kids in Centerburg LOVE their circus! Such a great response from everyone....lots of laughter, smiles, singing, and general mayhem occurred. :) The folks at the nursing homes were also very appreciative of a short visit from us...many smiles and hand shakes as we passed from room to room.
