Lucky for us the museum was nice and quiet. I walked along the gangway into the gigantic hanger and the black tail wing slowly came into view. I had goose bumps. The corners of my mouth joined my ears. I was almost welling up.
As I slowly got to the end of the balcony the whole plane came into view. Something I have dreamed of seeing for over 30 years.

When I learned that lichen can do this I was surprised because rocks are so hard and they don't break easily. After I was finished at Harpers Ferry I headed to Gettysburg, where the 1st national cemetery is. The battlefields from the civil war are also here. The place had a strange eeriness about it. There were so many memorials all over the place. The cemetery itself was of an interesting design with the gravestones sunk into the ground and all facing towards a monument.
