... as possible, we were hoping that there would be a breeze being near the sea. We could have arrived on Wednesday but our new family was not expecting us before Thursday so we decided to do a last minute detour to Derby on Wednesday. Not much to see in that town, it's on the sea but on a gulf which water was brown and opaque. We stopped to have lunch in the van and left Derby.

... the keeper was tossing out! There were also many different birds, some lizards, a pair of friendly dingoes, and surprisingly a number of American alligators. Debbie got to hold a baby croc and he was really very, very soft with buttery skin. You can’t tell from the photo, but he did have his mouth fastened shut with a rubber band. I heard that they have very sharp little needle-like teeth and was glad not to have felt them!

... we promptly took advantage of the adults' pool - but as we found out later the rest of the group was booked in a hotel a good 10 minutes walk away. I think this will be the only time on the trip we have a nicer hotel than the rest of the group! A couple beers poolside and we're no longer thinking obvious sweating on the tarmac. ... these sites had cooling breezes and wow what a view we had. We were right at the end where you take the path down a steep decline of about 50 metres to the 5km beach.
