... thrilled at the possibility of clean clothes (we have used all our socks and jumpers whilst shorts and sandals have stayed firmly in the case). I am also enjoying freedom from tour groups. When a group from the cruises arrive at our hotel wearing their names on placards around their necks I sigh with relief that I am not with them. This evening we have dinner talking about family stuff rather than making small talk. Best meal ...

We leave Healy, Denali and the north side of the Ak range in good weather. The forcast calls for showers but we avoid them on the ride south. Just before the town of Cantwell we get the quintessential Moose photograph. One moose in the bog and the other cow in the small pond. We knew today was going to be a long drive to Anchorage for Winnie to be repaired at Great Alaskan Holiday's service center so we planned to leave at 7:00. ... The aurora was literally dancing in curtains of light. We stayed out for just over an hour all up and saw an amazing show of dancing green light. The light would move downward from the arch and then sweep backward and forward across the sky in a figure 'S' shape. It truly was an amazing experience and we were quite privileged to see it. Overnight: Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge and Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge - both were exceptional lodges ...

... and has a toilet and shower. Talk about glamping. We managed to get all our luggage in and still had room to sit in the back although we have to do some re-organising come bed time. We visited Fred Myers ( a department store and supermarket rolled into one. You can even buy rifles and pistols.) to stock the pantry then onto the highways to test out Mick's skills driving on the right side of the road (is that the left side, I am so confused). Some stressful moments and ...
