    Today I drive up to Olympia just for the day to visit my long time friend and fellow model railroader, Jim Younkins, who also uses this travelpod blog for his journeys.

    ... our dirtiest hotel yet with our Jack and Cokes and shrimp broccoli, chicken friend rice, and veggie egg rolls. We both exhaled reflecting that we thought we handled the day pretty well together and things could have been much worse. So, all in all, I am still enamored and am thankful for the fabulous company I keep.

    ... s market, but lo, it was closed for the day. From there we parted ways, but I was happy to have spent such a lovely afternoon with new friends and see more of such a beautiful city!

    Before going to my next stop, I spent the rest of the day walking around the peer near the Oyster House. It was such a nice day & the area is peaceful, so I loved checking out all the sites on my own, especially the local street art. A nice Washington day!

    ... around the gardens surrounding the State Legislature Building in relative quiet and were able to spend time looking at the American perspective of the two world wars. Two world wars with very different dates to those we are brought up with in European history lessons. Just one of many elements which highlight the differences between two countries which, on the surface, have so much in common.
