... one husband going crook at his wife as she wasn't giving him the right directions...lol She was sent into the van and he did it himself. Very funny, even Kaff & I haven't reached that stage yet .
When we took off we visited the Visitors centre and got some info and checked out their museum. Then it was into Safeways for some groceries, then to the Post Office where they were as good as our Post Offices..ie short staffed ...

... made; we picked them up at one of the only inns, and then practically ran out and ran back (natch for us) and then had enough time to dash madly over to the old boardwalk and the museum and then hobble onto the boat for the ride back.

Then at the end of the day we drove (1.5 hours) to Seldovia on the Kenai River where the salmon have just begun their run. the Alaskan's calls it 'combat ...

The moment we set foot in Seldovia the lights went out. The owner of our hotel was quite put out and only gave us one of our rooms so we could store the luggage until the lights came back. The owner of the coffee shop and used book store said we could drink whatever coffee he had left -- and then we would have to wait til the power returned. i had an Epiphany the other day. i realized that believe it or not, I am just too damn old to be working 12 hours a day, 7 days a week and then walking 6 miles to sleep in a ******* tent in the arctic. this is a younger mans game for sure and i am just not digging it. ... i am not sliding down my tent while sleeping which is very nice. its cold but its ******* Alaska so its to be expected so i cant complain too much on that front. I AM living in what seems to be a moose highway which i find annoying. sometimes i will have a Mexican standoff with a moose who is blocking my path to the tent. remember that more people are killed by moose in Alaska then by bears and you will realize how dangerous these ****ers ...
