... you look there is a flag proudly flying. Whether it's a flagpole in the front lawn or a row of flags on the electricity pilons as you drive down the country roads, the national pride is evident. Even the graves we saw had flags instead of flowers.
After a full day, we are back in our lodgings with the fire going and feeling very content. We have mapped out our last day in Maine tomorrow and then heading on to Vermont.
... learned a couple things. It was, at times, agonizing, frustrating, while at the same time, awesome. Sraddha is tooling around the area whilst I toil away. Camden Hills SP has mostly unlevel spots in the forest but we managed to score a pretty level spot in the open area with a peekaboo view of Penobscot Bay. ... of lobstermen, but it was good to have a little more time with my fellow participants. It’s been really nice to spend the week with these interesting people, and to gain their perspective about the things we’re doing. It’s really enhanced the experiences we had – the fun things, as well as the challenges such as braving the cold rain and steep climb to be able to say we all stood inside a real lighthouse!
... first century, as we visited this winery which has only been in operation for a few years. We saw the vats where the wine is mixed, and the oak barrels where it’s aged, before we headed up to the house for a wine tasting with one of the owners. That evening was our final dinner together, and we went to a restaurant we’d visited earlier in the week. The other people in our group are very interesting to talk to – I’ve enjoyed getting to know them ...
... the coastline. We arrive at the first “non-rock” named town – Camden - and are charmed by its quaint old time storefronts and abundance of adorable shops, indigenous places to dine and its wonderful harbor and mountain views.
