Rte 6 is the 2nd longest continuous highway in USA; from Bishop, CA to Cape Cod. This PA scenic portion is 1 rolling hill after another with farm lands interspersed between forests, rivers, small towns of yesterday-year......and vista views of the fall foliage on every ridge. This "Endless Mountain" area part of the Allegheny Mountains is rich in Civil War, Native Indian, French Azilum settlement histories.....and currently a booming fracking area. Vivid fall colors explode over every ...

    Wellsboro downtown

A travel blog entry by akityberg on Jun 08, 2012

Wellsboro is a unique rural town off of Route 287 and Route 6. It brings back memories of the small town atmosphere from the 1950's and 1960's. City is well kept and a variety of eateries to suite your taste. Trees line downtown and there is still that old style movie theater.

Many great attractions with Pine Creek Trail nearby and the PA Grand Canyon. They have a nice Wellsboro Diner, The Steak House, and much more.

... woodpeckers in action, and the hawks (on this day about a dozen) grazing the sky at eye level. You hear various song birds and wildlife rustling on the trail. The ferns are of mass proportion on the ground. The crisp cool 70 degree temperatures and different bench locations and overlooks allow you to have a romantic picnic while enjoying nature at its best. Great area to go camping and relax. A ...

    ... down and back up.

After we finished up with the Turkey Path we checked out the store and then hiked the Overlook Trail. The Overlook Trail is only .6 miles, but does have some steep hills to hike down and back up. It is a loop trail that takes you out to the Otter View, a vista looking south down the canyon. Jared lied to all of us and told us that it was just a rim trail and was very flat and even. He was ...
