... We came down and had a look in the museum before hitting the road. We finally had to fill up the car - we'd done 350 miles since we started. That was interesting - you pay before you fill up. ... Lake Monsters lost to the Scrappers. Alex was happy, because he was the only person in the crowd rooting for the Scrappers. After the game, the stadium allowed any child who wanted to the chance to run the professional-spaced bases, which Alex did. When he finished, he had a great big smile on his face.

We walked back to the hotel in the dark humid night, chatting about our trip and all the fun we'd had - a great end to a long day.

Mallett's Bay is located on the 40 mile Island Line Trail. We biked about 12 miles of this beautiful, well maintained trail that includes waterfront and parks which connects Burlington to South Hero Island. A large portion of this trail is a former Rutland Railroad railbed (stopped running in the 1960s) which includes a very long causeway across Malletts Bay.
