Travel 30 miles down the Skyline Drive Road to Big Meadows campground. It is an older campground than Mathews Arm and not as nice. The campsites are more open and not as large. Hard to find a site to fit a 32 foot Motorhome! The one thing this campground has are showers which we dont use. We settle in and read for the afternoon then walk around the campground!
It gets windy and cold later so no fire tonight. Rains in the night!
Leave DC and head West to the Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park. This is a 100 mile north south drive on top of the Shenandoah Mountain range. You are up at around 3,000 feet the whole time so it can get cool this time of year! When the rain stopped, Gary started on supper of macaroni and hamburger while Dulcey and Sandy chatted, Zach started a fire, and Ben and Mattias played around. ... picky as we only made reservations a few days in advance. On the plus side it was very close to the Swift Run Gap entrance station to Shenandoah. After supper we played a dice game that Sandy had brought that required us to make up stories which ended up being quite funny and silly.
