... an ambulance with all lights flashing at the base station so not everyone gets down unscathed. Interestingly the park is open 24X7 and has lots of night time visitors despite the rocky road. At this time of year it makes sense as the temperature is a bit cooler at night and the viewing is focused on the fires.

There are several theories about the origin / significance of the fires. These range from

Cirali is a teeny tiny one gravelly road town down in a jungly area near the sea. There is a long pebble beach with the most pristine water that I won't even describe bercause you'd suffer a jealousy aneurism.  To get here, you need to take a mini bus (I found a single seat, so no man problems this time!) to a place on the side of the road where a dolmus (a small local bus) sits waiting for enough people for it to be worth the drive down the hill ...

Well, the name of our accommodation may have been Bayrams Treehouse, but we were definitely on the ground, albeit in very rustic digs!

Olympos is definitely the most laid back destination of our trip. A small village, set in a valley and popular with the back packer set, Olympos was once an important Lycian city in the 2nd century BC, the remains of which line the 1.5 km track down to the beach. (We are realising that the term ...

TURKEY (Port of Antalya – July 3-6)

After 6 days at sea, we were all ready to get off the ship in the southern city of ANTALYA for our 4-day visit. Located on the southern Mediterranean coast, it not only has a rich Greco-Roman history, but it is also known for its natural beauty with the Taurus Mountains as its background. It even reminded us a little of Puerto Vallarta with its blue skies, many palm trees ...
