... got in to Ludington Friday afternoon and enjoyed cooler weather. Visiting the downtown area was fun. We found some nice stores on Main Street and they were quite busy for a small town. We went to the lake next and enjoyed looking around there. There are several parks that I’m sure in the summer are very busy. ... the marathon. Then the chase car loaded up and drove to the first spectator/aid station. Thanks to Stuart and Kathleen Goodrich's generosity of lending us their 4-wheel drive Trailblazer we were able to make it through the very remote single track roads of Manistee County! There were four places for us to watch Kirk as he journeyed along the trails of the Manistee National Forest and the Big M trail. Quite a feat for his first ever ...
... Amy, our niece Rachel and my parents to watch Kirk run his first.....and maybe only......marathon. It starts at 7am but that means a wake up time of 5am? Really? Whose idea was this? I guess tomorrow night will be our night to stay up late and sleep in a bit on Sunday.

... beach! It was a great beach with soft clean sand and the water was great because it was fresh water, not salt water like the ocean...and very clear and a pretty color, too! After the beach we stopped for some ice cream at the camp store, and since we just couldn't get enough of this wonderful place, we went for a hike along the skyline trail, which was up these long wooden stairs and led to a long boardwalk along the edge of the dunes. Great views from up there, too. ...
