... we trotted off down the road to a restaurant where Ian had amazing steak and even though I’d been going on for ages about how much I wanted some steak, I had seafood linguine because it was supposed to be a local speciality. As I watched Ian devour his steak I finally admitted to myself that I don’t actually like seafood that much, what I actually like is steak. So we said a sad farewell to LA and headed up the coast to San Francisco. It was a beautiful day so we put the roof down on the Mustang and looked like a right pair of tossers.

We dumped our stuff then hit the streets and did a little shopping. We're off to Alcatraz tomorrow ...

... water's edge, kayakers paddling in the bay and families playing volleyball on clean beaches across the bay from the village. We hiked around the rock to the jetty where waves pounded and sprayed 30' into the air, and the ocean echoed off the cliffs creating a stereophonic experience.

... Getting out of San Fran was some scary times. Terrible rain, heavy traffic and learning how to drive on the wrong side of the road took complete concentration. So with navigator duties handed over to Julie, we managed to get lost a few times. Things got so much better though once we hit the coast. Tight twisting roads, fog rolling across the road from the ...
