    ... by a magician at the table whilst we learnt all about the ollalieberry (a cross between a loganberry and a youngberry in case you're interested, loganberries being a cross between blackberry and raspberry but even the waitress has no clue what a youngberry is...).     Well what an interesting day. Today was our last day in San Francisco and we had booked a hire car to drive to Long Beach with an overnight stop in Avila Beach. The car wasn't ready so we didn't get away until 11am. No stress.
    The plan was to hit the road and make a few stops along the way to look at recommended towns. This was the day I was looking forward to with stops in Monterey and Carmel.

    ... t feel able to refuse... but I did suggest that we only wanted one room and not the two they had reserved for us.

    But at least here they had my name right ~ at Tenaya Lodge in Yosemite they had me down as Alan McBrien. Close, but it didn't match my passport, which was tricky.

    ... dinner at a vegetarian cafe back in SLO and they invited me back to the hostel they were staying in for some drinks and conversation. Questions arose about the name of my camper and I told them I hadn't really decided. A few of the guys fro various countries thought it appropriate to name it "Roxy", a shortened and more 21st century version of John Steinbeck's "Rocinante" in his 1960'2 novel, "Travels With Charley."     ... time sunny warm since arriving in California - it seems that now finally we left the fog up north and are now coming closer to our beach vacation.
