... we trotted off down the road to a restaurant where Ian had amazing steak and even though I’d been going on for ages about how much I wanted some steak, I had seafood linguine because it was supposed to be a local speciality. As I watched Ian devour his steak I finally admitted to myself that I don’t actually like seafood that much, what I actually like is steak. But seeing as I own half of whatever Ian does, he very generously let me have some, so that was ...

So we said a sad farewell to LA and headed up the coast to San Francisco. It was a beautiful day so we put the roof down on the Mustang and looked like a right pair of tossers.

First stop was Santa Barbara, which is a beautiful coastal town with gorgeous Spanish architecture and plenty of dining and wine tasting in the centre of town. Had the best Mexican and cocktail for lunch (as you do) - Mexican here is NOTHING like at home. The town was full ...

... Getting out of San Fran was some scary times. Terrible rain, heavy traffic and learning how to drive on the wrong side of the road took complete concentration. So with navigator duties handed over to Julie, we managed to get lost a few times. Things got so much better though once we hit the coast. Tight twisting roads, fog rolling across the road from the ...
