Our Apartment

Walking in Stanley Park I realise I must look like a walking contradiction, fast walking in my 'sporting' clothes whilst drinking a large Starbucks Frappacino which would have about as many calories as my pizza lunch yesterday!

We have now moved into our apartment in West End (1889 Alberni Street). We moved in on the 1st July which happened to be Canada Day and a public holiday but lucky for us trusty old Ikea was still open so ...

... to have plenty of time to get through security, get something to eat, and buy some water and tic tac for the flight.

We used Scott's sky miles for the direct flight from Salt Lake City to Vancouver and we talked about getting first class seats, but since it is only a two-hour flight on a CRJ 900, I felt it wasn't worth it because I'd rather save the miles for business class seats to Tahiti ...

... grey, choppy seas, rain and no sign of land on either side of the ship. Murray spends most of the morning in the cabin, while Dianne goes to a few activities. The first is at 10.45am, and is a galley tour. Half the ship decided to go, so there was a long wait, but there wasn’t much else to do, and she hung in. The ship has 122 cooks, chefs and cleaning personnel, and they prepare 9,000 dishes on an average day, but more on cruises like this with cold weather.

This was going to take some effort but thanks to some helpful family friends it was at least achievable and after a few hours of vacuuming, scrubbing, polishing and getting attacked by dust mites, the car was clean enough to go back to the sale yard. Driving it these last few days had to be the most stressful of the whole trip but thankfully it made it to the sale ...

ViaRail, by way of Vancouver

A travel blog entry by d-traveler on Jun 06, 2014

... it important that we hurry up and get there. So we passed all the great Chinese food of Chinatown (because Momma couldn't make up her mind if she wanted to eat, less known what she wanted to eat) until we came to a cafe on the edge, and ordered an Italian dish. The pasta was too al dente, but the sauce and spinach were good. We were told that there'd be no dining on the train on the departing eve, so it was best to eat prior or bring food on. So we took it ...
