Got up this morning and had a long chat with our host after breakfast which didn't help in getting away to an early start. Got away in the late morning not sure at all how far we would get heading south around the west coast. During our chat our host had told us about a place near the Kyle of Tongue where we might get to spot some otters if we were lucky. We have only seen a couple very briefly at dusk on Unst so far so we thought we would call in and try to spot one.

... it’s crazy pinnacles, Lord Berkeley’s Seat, where legend has it that the fearless and pompous Lord Berkeley used to sit on top of the pointed peak and smoke his pipe, with hundreds of metres of air between his feet and the shore of the lochan below. Best of all, as all the great hills in Scotland have, there’s a pub at the bottom too. It all sounded nuts, so we just had to give this hike a go!

We came across this lamb bleating pitifully and desperately trying to attach himself to a ewe which already had her offspring in tow and obviously didn't want anymore. She kept butting the lost lamb away which was all very distressing.

... Pollaidh was just amazing! We happily clambered over the many towers at the top of the hill (the true summit pretty much requires rock climbing experience - not one for us!), it was all great fun! Until we saw thick and threatening black clouds approaching our good times so it was a quick sliding exit down the side of the hill before the drizzle and mist set in.
