    ... we had some time to burn in the park near Long Beach bay.

    ... as it hadn't been heated all through, but the spices in the avocado sauce made it hot anyway, so it ended up being quite tasty!There is also a very old Firehouse here, built in 1888. It has a revolving part in the wooden floor to allow the firecart to be turned after the horses brought it inside-all ready for the next callout!
    We happened upon a Medal of Honour Ceremony there too commemorating the war service ...

    ... worth it. This ride lays you on your back and shoots you around. Really strange going backwards and when the gravity inverts you do feel a bit exposed.

    It's a great train ride from San Diego to LA. No traffic!!!!! Just sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery. Beth picked me up at the train station and we headed back to her house to see Alex and Gus. What did we do? Chat, chat, chat...never at a loss for words and so much to catch up on after the long absence.

    ... and it certainly took me by surprise. I didn't buy the picture that they take of you on the ride because it was stupid money, but if you have seen The Mummy and you can remember the bit where Imhotep creates the sandstorm in the image of his face then you can probably imagine how wide my mouth was in that picture.

    The other really good ride worth a mention was the Jurassic Park log flume. Being a massive JP fan, this was the one I was excited about. ...
