After a night stay in Owen Sound, a dull place with nothing to mention, we entered Algonquin Park for a weekend of nature and fun, Our first night in camp was a test of character and resolve after our 4 hour drive.
We arrived at the campsite at Lake of Two Rivers, full of cheer and enthusiasm for our adventure with nature. After some Al...
After hearing many, many stories about "going up north" in Canada, I began to wonder where "North" is, exactly. Why do these people say "north", and everyone just seems to understand one another perfectly? What's up north, anyway?
So, J decided to arrange a nice "Up North" getaway for us. We went to Huntsville in Muskoka, where we staye...
We arrived in Algonquin park late on Tuesday evening, its fair to say that these provincial parks are generally not suited for a large RV, and this was no exception, after maneuvering thru the trees we finally found a suitable site and after some careful backing we thought we had arrived, when a guy pulled up in his car and advised us that we ...

There never really is enough time is there? Any visit to a good friend is never long enough, and any stay in a beautiful places makes you long for more time.
It's been a wonderful time here at Pioneer, and if I had more time up my sleeve I could definitely handle a much longer stay here.
A bit of background for those that don't kno...
We really needed a break! A break from the frustrations of beating our heads against the brick wall of the Canadian health care administrative system. A break from having to shovel ourselves out on an almost daily basis from the endless, ferocious snow storms. A break from being cooped up in our townhouse for the long, long winter months. Finall...
Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada thymeoffWe seem to be a magnet for cold, wet, miserable weather. The lakes and pines of north-western Ontario passed by in a grey blur of drenching rain, accompanied by the hypnotic rhythm of the windshield wipers....swish, swock...swish, swock....swish, swock. DC3 was constantly buffeted by turbulence from the passing traffic, and visibility was reduce...

Algonquin Park is at about 3h00 by car from Toronto. I think car is the best way to visit the park because you can stop at many places. Just bring good shoes to walk, a camera to imortalize great views and maybe cream agains mosquitos !
It is easy to find a map at the entrance of the park (in a tourist office) describing the different pla...
