WONDERFUL WEEK

This has to be the shortest entry ever, but somehow sitting at a computer in the tropics doesn't appeal.
Anyway, just to say it has been wonderful being able to spend this quality time with the family, I will be so sad when I leave early Monday morning.
Nic is very busy ...

... of the occasional hardy surfer may also make you feel a little homesick!) The Rainforest Trail in Pacific Rim National Park may produce Hermit Thrush, Fox Sparrow and a number of other lowland species. In the afternoon we will drive back to Nanaimo. Along the way we will stop at Cathedral Grove. This is a stand of Western Red Cedar and Sitka Spruce that has been spared from the loggers' saws and set aside as a refuge. Here visitors ...

... that now live in sydney. we have to arrange our alcohol list, food list collect our truck and organise all our camping gear. then diffent people go off and do the alcohol run, food run and the truck organising. the rest of people have to watch a safety film to learn what to do when you see a dingo (stand still with your arms across your chest, yeah not likely!!) so we set off on our way, with one of the boys driving us to the ferry. we our part of a 4 truck convoy, so on the ferry we all ...

Woodford Folk Festival!

Alrighty roo...I arrived back in Brisbane, at the airport, the morning of Boxing Day. My destination was Woodford, the folk festival to be specific, my home for the next week. I grabbed a train then a bus then my friend from work, Naomi, picked me up from Calboulture, the nearest town with a station (so woodford is aboot 2 1/2 hrs from brisbane). It worked oot really well actually.. as i didn't have any camping equipment at all beyond a sleeping bag and a travel mug. It's ...

Daytrip to Redcliffe

... snotty-nosed angels. My angel no longer has a snotty nose, which has migrated from his bowser to his attitude and he sat in isolated splendour on the gritless grass while I ventured onto the gritty sand. I turned the tables though when we arrived at the Settlement Cove Lagoon! Having left his costume in the car, "I'm not gonna swim!", I joyously and gracefully dived into the azure pool, cleaving the cool white-capped water with ...

Wanker is not a dirty word

... I expect she must have misaligned the steering or burned the clutch too much, because for some reason the vehicle got bogged down when I was driving. The highlight for us on Fraser was our visit to Birrabbeen lake - one of the many freshwater lakes surrounded by beautiful white sand that dot the island. The lakes themselves aren't fed by rivers, instead filling in natural resorvoirs that are 'plugged' by the rotting vegetation from the jungle. The water is filtered by ...

I walk in the forest

RH: Sunday morning Jim and Esna took us on a road trip around some of the mountains near their Samford. The town is surrounded by state forests and some scattered farm lands making it extremely picturesque. This area is famous for its slow winding roads and tight hairpin bends, perfect for motor biking. We must have passed hundreds of bikers out on their breakfast run, this made me very envious. We stopped at various lookouts and also took a short 6km ...

Camping

We are in Queensland now (as opposed to New South Wales) and it gets light out an hour earlier which means an hour less sleep in the car. Woke up at about 7, sweating. Decided we had had enough of Surfers Paradise so we were going to go to a town called Southport which we assumed to have a beach. When we got there we realized that it was just a port and there was no beach to be found so our plans changed ...

Woodford Folk Festival

I will let the photos tell the story of the fun time that was had by Jan, Ron, Donna, Marg and Cathy ... as how can you relive a festival in a few words? The Glass House Mountains are just stunning and at the top of Woodford Hill at dawn over looking the sleeping tent city it is such a peaceful and spiritual place to recover from the debauchery of the night before!

New Address

Its always such a weight of your mind when you finally succeed with what you,ve been trying to achieve against the clock. Today we finally got our hands on our new motor - "Baris" named after Barbara (Tillys gran that passed away recently) and Iris (Wayne's gran that passed away many years ago). We paid $14,750 for her which was a fair price and she came fully loaded with ...
