Escaping Wild Fires

... noises. We went for a couple of great hikes around the area. We saw the rock formation "The Three Sisters" and some really beautiful waterfalls. Then got harassed by a religious nutjob for about an hour, who wouldn't let us leave the lookout area without hearing his views on life. Luckily we made it away from him just before we starved to death. We hiked back to camp, ate, and went to sleep for many, many hours ...

Surgical operation of the mind in Oz....

... that. Like I said I was feeling pretty sorted... so where did all that stuff come from?...

This realization freaked me out for maybe an hour.... and then we had a 5 min break before doing yet another hour of meditation.... and then I sat again learning to contemplate this "stuff" without judging it... and suddenly it was fine. I knew that stuff was not permanent and it stopped scaring me instantly. It's almost like I could give it a hug.

And more stuff came ...

1. We love that you two post together and are glad to know you are keeping updated!
2. Randy is hilarious. He will hop right up to you, lean back on his incredible feet and move his tiny arms about until you pet his soft, fluffy chest. There is another girl, Riley, who is a Wallaroo, who I have spent a bit more time with and was actually able to get some photos with so I shall post them. Obviously, in the wild these animals star ...

... rock, (there is a Aboriginal story about how these came to be there - a man had three daughters, he went away for a while instructing them to watch out for the bunyip. One day one of them was frightened by a centipede and threw a stone at it which woke the bunyip. The man heard and the only way to save his daughters was to point his magic stick at them and turn them to stone. He was going to turn them back but unfortunately lost his magic stick and he is still ...

... in Australia.....!

We flew from Christchurch to Melbourne, so it was lovely to arrive in Oz without any jet lag and having made such a relatveily short journey. It was not quite as striaghtforward as hoped due to a non-arriving taxi at 4am in Christchurch, but after a few frantic phone calls and a bit of a 'flying by the seat or our pants' moment re checking in we made it, and a few hours later and a surprisingly easy customs experience we were off on the ...

... caravan park was right across the street from the Katoomba Falls lookout. In the evening Nuno decided to go for a walk from Katoomba Falls to the Echo Point, through the Prince Henry Cliff walk, to watch the Sunset... Eva was lazy, so she stayed home (our camper van) and did the laundry. The walk was really nice, but the weather changed rapidly and Nuno barely made it to Echo Point before the thunder storm and heavy rain started. At echo point there was a tiny ...

Het Opera House, van binnen

... where we had a lovely buffet lunch. On then to Echo Point with superb views of the Three Sisters, the Blue Mountains National Park and the valley. It has to be seen to be appreciated I think. The bus then took us over to the Skywalk cable car that goes across a huge drop! You can see Wentworth falls below through the glass bottom in the cable car. Again, a bit surreal! Then came the train ride - a sheer drop down the cliff face through a tunnel of rock! Well ...

Kwola Park, Tom Cat and I headed up to a Kwola park just north of Sydney. Looked a bit shabby from the outside and was a bit expensive. But turned out to be really good. You could go into the enclosures with the kangaroo, walaroos and wallabies and pet them which was really cool. We also got to pet the ...
