      Strange thing happened while we were touring the grounds: a ranger on an ATV rolled up and asked us if he could ask us a question. Sure, of course. "Did you talk to the woman at the visitor's center?" Yes. "Could you tell whether she has taken her meds?" Silence. Ranger laughed uproariously and drove off.       ... there. Located in the middle of a three-hundred year-old city, the modern structure (see the photos) was more than a little out of place. The citizens of Natchitoches weren't about to turn down a $7 million building, so the Hall of Fame was built in the middle of an "old town" that is draped in banners heralding their 300th year anniversary.       ... in the middle of their 19th annual rhythm and blues festival. We quickly made our way down to the Cane River Lake where the festival was blaring. A few minutes and a short walk away, we were listening to their hometown singer who recently departed "The Voice", TV show. DeShawn Washington was followed later in the evening by The Marshall Tucker Band. In between, we sampled Natchitoches specialties such as meat pies, opalousas, gumbo and bananas foster.       ... until the main house was built in 1833. After 1884 the property was acquired by John Hampton Henry and Miss Cammie Garrett Henry and then became a haven for artist and writers. There is a nominal $10 charge for a tour of the primary buildings. The tour was excellent.
