At Ashland I changed from Route 61 to Route 54, though I wouldn't be sure which way the Garmin took me. But I went from Ashland...



...through more hilly countryside, crossing a railway at one point...

Hello my most loyal traveling companions,

Did you keep your head down with all the shooting and cannon fire at Gettysburg? What a neat town and great presentation by the National Park Service. I highly recommend everyone to include this area on their bucket list.

As we started to pack up this morning it started to rain. Soon we had thunder and lightning, then suddenly torrential rain. We took shelter in the RV for quite a while then, as it eased a bit, dashed to shelter in the BAT (because that's where the coffee was!).

Eventually we managed to get going, on what was supposed to be a two hour journey, but which took three hours, thanks to Becky (GPS) ...

Many of the rooms looked vaguely familiar, but enough time had passed between my two visits that it might as well have been the first time. Winterthur is a great place to see a large collection of such American decorative arts in situ as complete ensembles rather than as individual pieces in museum ...
