... alas! They had closed all national parks in that area, including the Tingle Trees, Karri forest, Tree Top Walk and the Glouster Tree! The man said they would all be closed for at least the next three days, as the rangers had gone to fight the fire which had indeed worsened overnight. We were still completely safe in Denmark, but blocked from travelling any further west.

This put a dampener on our spirits a little as it affected our future ...

... 8217;t really have a choice), but wouldn’t go as far as saying I ‘enjoyed’ it. The whole thing is like a series of suspension bridges, with little viewing platforms between each one. At frequent intervals, signs remind you that the load limit is 20 people per expansion, and 10 people per platform. I do believe I was the only one taking any notice of these signs!

... to find me in the caravan, but as luck would have it, he did, and I vividly remember waking up to my 'Patatina' doll at the end of my bed – she was almost as big as me back then. I still have her in the cupboard somewhere.

So the frenzy of gift opening was over in about five minutes for Josh and Elijah, but Noah being the most like his mother (poor boy) savoured each gift before going on to the next, so his lasted about half an hour or so! ...

... we are now in at Coalminers Bay is actually in a national park, so we are surrounded by beautiful bushland and have already spotted (and heard) a number of native birds. Could be fun first thing in the morning!

Santa has just done his rounds in a little firetruck, and Elijah has constructed a gingerbread shack...it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, albeit a very different one to any we have had ...

... drive with birds twittering in amongst the magnificent eucalypts. We walked the track to The Giant Tingle Tree which is around 400 yrs old. In the 60's locals and tourists drove their Holden cars and rode their horses in to have photos taken in the tree !!! No more
We then drove on to Circular Pool …. too cold for swimming, we had lunch and drove back to Walpole via the forest tracks.
Later in the afternoon we took off ...
