... fire lighters, matches, a vase and other random objects. There was a book to write in, left by the Department of Parks and Wildlife (DPAW), and people had shared their stories about how they had found the hut, as well as pictures, poems and other musings.

We slept on our mattress inside the hut, listening to the rapidly flowing river, while being kept warm by the coals in the fire place. What an amazing free ...

... was another museum building full of photos of when the whaling station was operational. There really was a lot of interesting stuff to see, the last of which was one of their old whaling ships which has been grounded there and restored. We got chatting to an employee there who knew where we meant when we said we were from the Hunter Valley, because he'd worked at Bayswater near Muswellbrook in the 1980s and 90s! It really was a small world kind of day! ...

Well long after it had turned dark our fishermen returned last night. My record-keeping son informed me that they had caught thirty eight fish! Only two were keepers, but I would say that our drought has been broken!

So of course, this morning, after breakfast and showers etc, the first place we headed was back to the 'secret' location under the bridge. The Teenager stayed here to read his Christmas books.

... 8217;t really have a choice), but wouldn’t go as far as saying I ‘enjoyed’ it. The whole thing is like a series of suspension bridges, with little viewing platforms between each one. At frequent intervals, signs remind you that the load limit is 20 people per expansion, and 10 people per platform. I do believe I was the only one taking any notice of these signs!

... to find me in the caravan, but as luck would have it, he did, and I vividly remember waking up to my 'Patatina' doll at the end of my bed – she was almost as big as me back then. I still have her in the cupboard somewhere.

So the frenzy of gift opening was over in about five minutes for Josh and Elijah, but Noah being the most like his mother (poor boy) savoured each gift before going on to the next, so his lasted about half an hour or so! ...
