We spent two nights in the Big 4 caravan park and explored Albany. Did all the washing then headed for Whaleworld. Interesting place. Operational from 1952 til 1978. They would harpoon the whales, detonate a grenade in their heads, tag and flag them, fill them with air, carry on with their hunt and pick up all the whales on the way back to the whale processing station. Next, we left the highway to see the "Giant Tingle Trees" that grow in this area. "Tingle trees" are the largest girthed of all eucalypts - up to 20m in circumference, and living to about 400 years old. Many of the older trees have large burnt out hollows at their bases, as big as a room. but keep on growing. Further long the road ...

... water and white sand. Looks a fantastic swimming spot, but a degree too cold for us! We watched many others swimming, paddling, jumping, snorkeling etc for quite a while, before heading across and around the rocky headland to the next attraction - "Elephant Cove", where with a little imagination, you can see a herd of elephants playing in the water, and even a baby elephant in the middle of the cove by itself. Quite ...
