    Today we drove to the Vanderbilt mansion in Hyde park. This mansion was one of their smallest, a weekender really, although costing $2.25 miliion in the 1800s!. It was stunning. As they had no children, when they passed away the mansion was given to their niece. She tried to ...

    ... ten broecks, and while Daniel's role was to destroy the dutch, his son, Charles, My Great, Great.... Grand father, married his daughter Maria. So I felt very priviledged to be touring the home of my Great, Great......( I cant remember how many!!) Grand-Mothers ! I didn't realise this before the tour!
    My next step is to find some more about Captian Daniel's Grand-son. General Daniel Brodhead, a war hero and clsoe confidante of George washingtons!

    Departure from Nyack (we got dropped off just a bit out of NYC to avoid traffic) went well. We cycled approximately 65 km (40 miles). It was quite hilly (a lot more than what I am used to) but we eventually made it to Beacon, NY where we camped for the night in someone's backyard.

    ... in Walmart for groceries, then headed in to the campsite. Due to the traffic we arrived later than planned. We pitched tents due to the numbers I ended up with one to myself which is a bonus.     After a year of planning the route is set.

    Needed to fully pack the bike in Connecticut (its home base) to move it down to Manhattan so I can work 2 days and hit the road early Wednesday.

    Arrived in Manhattan late Sunday and waiting for the Wendsday departure.
