We think we have solved the riddle of the crops in the field which I called oats. They were beans. We have seen fields with green/yellowing leaved plants which we knew were beans but the brown stalked plants had us beaten. Today we could stop and look closely - they were beans ready for harvesting. There are obviously different varieties planted as some are quite a golden colour while others are a straw brown.

Today was a great day. I was shooting for Flora Illinois and had no intention of riding the 150 miles to Indiana. For the first time in 2 weeks I had good riding conditions. When I started riding from Caseyville this morning it was calm and about 75 degrees out. By lunch time there was a light wind at my back and it had gotten even cooler. It looks like all the good weather vibes you guys have been sending me have worked. I was ...

... great grand nephew! He walked out with us to enjoy a cup of coffee on the front porch. We left the the restaurant and rode about only 4 miles and pulled over for water in front of a shop that sold western clothing and saddles. Devon thought this was a little blessing, her slim chance to get more horse liniment, a therapeutic gel for sore muscles, which they didn't have any. The owner, Rochelle, had several questions for us and she also looked on her computer for ...
