Then it was a long drive (for some!) to Blenheim Palace, the Churchill home and birthplace of Sir Winston. We only walked the grounds but it is still a fine Baroque building to admire.

... Breakfast.

The day was overcast with showers causing us to duck into a series of shops and arcades to don wet weather gear, of just sit for a few minutes till the weather changed. It was a glorious reminder of an English Spring in all it's Monty Python glory.

... I enjoyed afternoon tea in the Gwalia Tea Room above the authentic, turn of the century country store. The reconstructed village really helps us imagine what life may have been like hundreds of years ago – not a lifestyle I would want to go back to. Had I lived during that era I most likely would have passed on 20 years ago.

... crumble with amazing custard but no one wanted any!

I made the mistake of rubbing my eyes and they got very itchy and sore. My allergies, hayfever and eyes have flaired up since we have been in Europe which isn’t very good! I could barely see as we walked home and I quickly put in my eyedrops which helped.

Sleeping helped my eyes even more but unfortunately my stomach started cramping and I spent a few hours in the night in the bathroom.
