... our fill of palace life, history, the grounds and expensive champagne, we moved on to Burton-on-the-Water. This little hamlet is often called the Venice of England because of the little canals that run through the village. Quaint but with not much else to do here, we leave the Cotswolds.

On our way to Ironbridge, we’ll stop at Stratford-upon-Avon to visit Shakespeare’s birthplace . . ...

... again which we weren’t too keen on but we quickly realised we were in a very beautiful town and the colleges of Oxford University were very impressive. It was a very bustling town, lots of young students obviously and it just had an air of importance about it. The streets were lined with lovely shops and they had a main walking street which is a really enjoyable way to see a city.

... truth is more of a confession. I'm starting to develop a taste for the English ales - never thought it would happen - but some of the locally brewed ales have been terrific. ... celebrate Monnie's birthday. Lovely night, kids sleep on the couch, after sitting on Kevin's Harley - they thought that was pretty cool. Sunday morning is rugby weigh in for Mac. Paul heads down at 10am with the masses and they practice then have a bit of a game, this is how they do it in England. Practice before the game. Sunday mornings, few pints while watching and lunch at the pub afterward. Our Sundays now sorted! So then today was a wee adventure, a little day trip ...
