... well deserved wash. It took some scrubbing to get 5 weeks worth of dirt off him but he sparkled once we were done :)
Another longish drive got us to Arles where the plan was to stay for 2 nights as it was home to van Gogh and lots of Roman ruins. We got a good park on the Rhone River just outside the city walls but the city itself made us feel a little uneasy and something was not quite right. The place was ...
Plan was to stay in Avignon but when we arrived we decided it was too big for us and after driving around the outide of the ramparts of the old city walls - very cool and the main thing we wanted to see - we made our way onwards to Fontaine de Vaucluse which is 20kms past Avignon. We arrived just before dark and found an Aire de Service at the edge of town where settled in for 2 days. The town ...
Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France darrenhough74Wait a minute, we’re not traveling to Italy until tomorrow…but we spent the day in Arles exploring Roman architecture.
The biggest site in town is the amphitheatre, or coliseum. Glimpses through different side streets pull you even closer like the hub it has always been. Huge in scale, some seating is till original and large towers give sweeping views of the ...

Left Lauterbrunnen early this morning in the quite chilly weather (and got to experience Dean sprint very fast back to the tent in the cold after forgetting his towel for the shower) for our drive back into France to Avignon. Somehow the temperature managed to go up about 100 degrees in between Switzerland and France and so everyone was sweaty and gross by the time we arrived at our very very dusty campsite, all dressed in Winter ...
... as that is where they are staying for a few weeks during world cup. Spent rest of afternoon relaxing at Shaun and Heidis house with Disco and Kate who are over from Scotland. Went for a swim in their pool and had a decent shower which was just fantastic after not having a shower since Pamps. Are now playing some Petanque, girls vs boys, boys are taking it way to seriously ...
St Cannat, France kimandmads... unpack our backpacks and have a place to call home. St. Victor La Coste is a tiny town surrounded by vineyards. The area is known for its Cote de Rhone wine. The town had one small grocery store, one payphone, a tabac shop, a post office, and two bars known to us as the one on the right and the one on the left. We rarely had the need to go into town as all of our needs were provided by the kind Sabraneque staff, including the most delicious chocolate cake Jill has ever tasted ...
