Illinois is beautiful and green. I passed the state line across the Mississippi River today. I'm following the river on Highway 96 mostly. It makes for a beautiful ride. It's hard to get very far, because I keep stopping to admire the view or take a picture. I met a man on a bike in Quincy but he was not a touring cyclist. He told me he was tracing his ancestry on his father's side. He had already met relatives when he ...

    Happy Flag Day!

It's Flag Day and my flag of choice is a giant banner that reads, "IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!"

The sponsor, Carthage Vol. Fire ...

Up early this morning for another long day. Only stops we made were for food and fuel and a photo stop beside the Mississippi River before heading to Keokuk for the night. After dinner we walked down to the river and watched a tug push barges into the lock, one o 23 locks on the river.

Along the back roads there is corn field after corn field, the shopping centre was surrounded by a corn field.
