Bit of a late start as we had decided to have an easy day. Drove to North Allerton which is not far from Thirsk. Didn't look much on the map, but as usual towns are all bigger than expected. Had a lovely morning tea at Betty's Tearooms in the centre of town, then we made our back to Thirsk to visit the James Herriot museum, home and surgery of the vet who wrote the now ...

... surprised us both. Then it was off to the quilt show at the York Showgrounds. Found it easily and spent a very pleasant hour or so enjoying the quilts on display and we both made some material purchases. As it was early afternoon we decided to visit Fountain Abbey at Ripon, wow what a great spot. After walking for a bit I was getting closer to the water front and I thought oh it must be close I'll just check my map and it said I had walked ...

I assumed it would just be a little 15 min play, Whitby abbey inspired the story of Dracula I believe and there is a Dracula museum type thing but over the summer they were doing shows at the abbey. Well the play went for an hour and a half!! It was soo good. There was 3 actors who played about ...

Sandy and I went on the tour of the Turkish Baths from 9am to 10am. Very interesting. We went into Betty's Tea Rooms for a cup of tea and a Fat Rascal. We went back to the hotel to check out and walked over to Harrogate Station and caught an earlier train to Leeds where we picked up an earlier train back to Liverpool. A great couple of days in ...
