Smyle Inn New Delhi

Hello everyone, its day 1 of the trip!!! :D. Flight was pretty good, got upgraded although Chris and I were still not sitting together, but 1 in Business Class and 1 in Club world (seats that turn into beds!!). We swapped halfway through for fairness. Ah the first day here!!! It's been the day of ali's, firstly I am Ali(son), secondly the man who risked his life driving me from the airport was called Ali and then as i went in search of food a man tried to sell me earrings was called Ali. The last of the Ali's has since helped me all day finding my way about and stopping me getting lost. Day 2 oh dear sadly i have to report a tine amount of sun burn! nothing to bad but i'm a rosey shade of pink now instead of deadly white :) I decided to go to the craft museum and was walking to the metro station to see how that is but couldn't find it so carries on walking (about 4kms in total i think maybe more) bu the museum was good and i found 2 art galleries on the way which were nice and cool. The 3rd and final day in Delhi!! Today I went into old Delhi, the new attire def helped and i managed to get from one end of the main bazzar to the other without getting stopped once and asked if i wanted anything that i don't want!! amazing worked a treat. however the ants don't mind what your wearing and are still attracted. After Hong Kong it was time to leap into the great unknown - Delhi. Our first experience of Delhi wasn't quite what we expected. Our plane arrived at 2am and our taxi drove us through leafy areas and deserted streets, where was the hustle and bustle that India is famous for? We found out the next day…

It is difficult to explain what India is like unless you visit here. It is a total assault of the senses and is what it must be like if Jackson Pollock painted a picture on your eye...

Well, after all this time we have finally arrived in India. We arrived in New Delhi Airport on time and our driver was waiting for us as planned. We were taken to the Smyle Inn and soon realised that driving in Delhi involves no brakes and plenty of horn beeping.

Our flight departed at 11.20 at night; we were able to get a bus from directly outside Gab's apartment straight to the airport so it worked out perfectly. As you would expect HK duty-free is full of designer labels and ways to spend your money, however our last HK dollars were (appropriately enough) spent on food.... We saw our first Burger King in three months and treated ourselves. We boarded our plane without any problems and after 4.5 hours we arrived in Delhi (30 minutes ahead of schedul...

Hugh: The toy train from Shimla was much more luxurious than the toy train that we traveled on to get to Matheran. The train we were on only had first class carriages ('Darn it' we thought...- Ros ), with nice padded seats (they were very clever seats, the back could be moved so that the seat could face either way), and our dinner was also included! You dont quite belive it untill you see it. It is everything you expected and a whole lot worse. On a serious note it realy is fantastic just very very different than home, so much for your senses to take in. It is full of strange smells like spice, animal poo, petrol smoke and most commonly URINE. Also The noise is unbeliveable as they do not use mirrors or indicators when driving, the horn is universaly used for left, right, slowing down, over taking, stoping and basicly just "MOVE!!!" Ok, I haven't done this in a long time so bear with me.
Its now coming to the end of our first day in India. The plane journey wasn't bad and getting from the aiport to our Guest House turned out to be unexpectedly hastle free.
