      Fall, Frost and Fog

A travel blog entry by 9lives on Oct 24, 2014

There was no doubt in my mind that fall had arrived as we left this morning. We were up at 5:30 am to do some last minute packing and be at Shirley's before 7 am. Shirley had been kind enough to let us park the trailer with the Fiat and Richard's bicycle on board in her driveway so we could get a faster get away. And as she said, it got the neighbours talking.

Here we are in Dayton. Every other mile in Ohio is being dug up or paved, but we had zero hold-ups, just lots of hairy, narrow lanes at 65 mph & hundreds of 16-wheelers movin' the USA economy along. Tonight we 'll dine with some calm dignity (we hope) .... a Japanese restaurant right across the road from the motel.

Ontario had the best recycling program. Absolutely everything gets recycled - wet paper, dry paper, lawn clippings, cardboard, glass, aluminum, you name it - it gets recycled. Special blue bags are used for the trash and you'd best bring your own grocery bag to the store or you'll get charged. (Thanks Karen for giving us our own grocery bags.)

We tried to get an early start today, as it appears we will be battering thunderstorms along the shores of Lake Erie, on down into Ohio.

Alex did a great job getting up and around quickly, then helped me get the plane ready.

While I was fueling the plane, the fuel truck operator started a conversation with me about what happens to planes when a fuel cap falls off. Little did I know that the distraction of his talking to me caused me to ...

... Tuesday we slept in and were treated to amazing food all day! In the morning Russ headed out to check out the Air Force museum which was just a few miles away. I stayed back with the kids and let them run around their big yard and play with the power cars, swings... and burn off some energy after being in the car the whole day before!

At lunch my cousin Melanie and her boyfriend Matt joined us and so did my cousin Katie, her ...
