... section of the Canalway Trail that is on the road and that I will have to do if I really want to complete the entire Trail this year in honor of my birthday. Rt 31 went through Clyde before reaching Port Byron where I ended ended a previous bike ride. Clyde is possible the ugliest town I have ever seen. I drove back home and arrived before dark but not soon enough to do much of anything....or did I paint a window trim??
I started out from home around 9:30 am and arrived in Palmyra at 2 pm. I looked along Main Street for accommodation but ended up at the Aqueduct Park where I called the first B&B on my list. Luckily they had a cancellation and I was able to get a room immediately. The big LDS pageant was being held in Palmyra this week so I indeed was fortunate.

Boats exit the lock when the doors are open and then you wait for a "green" light to enter the lock. All of this process is communicated with the Lockmaster at each lock by communicating on the radio with them.

Thunderstorms passing through Oswego now, so we are going to hold off on leaving for a while. Hopefully it will clear up and we can hit the road by 8am for Lake Placid. Don't worry (moms!), we are being smart and safe.
... It was a beautiful drive along Cayuga Lake and is a well renowned wine region. There were many fields of grapes as well as some apple and cherry orchards. Ithaca New York is at the bottom of a very long steep hill. A lovely woman in her pretty little car pulled out about one block into this decent. Granny Gerdie will not have any brakes left in her car by the end of the month. She rode those brakes all the way down…kept us to a crawl, as well ...
