Today was a rest and relaxation day. The afternoon was spent at the pool reading, swimming and some conversation with our fellow campers; for dinner we visited a local restaurant for a meal of prime ...
... a film explaining the discovery of gold the formation of
the town. We wandered around the town which had several period buildings, a functioning blacksmith shop and a recreation of the saw mill near which gold was discovered. After a picnic lunch we headed north on CA Rt. 49 to “Nevada City” an old gold mining town where we strolled Main Street of the historic district and did a little shopping.
... the wooden sidewalks past the
beautifully restored store fronts containing restaurants, bars, ice cream parlors’, candy stores clothing stores and souvenir shops. We also walked down to the river where there is a paddle wheel boat that is now a combination restaurant, bar and hotel. It was an enjoyable afternoon.
... and establishment of the United States.
During this trip, Glenn and I have been pointing out to the boys where Native populations still exist throughout this country and help them understand that we share the land with Native Americans both as citizens of the United States and as our neighbors on Independent Native American reservations/nations throughout this grand country we are so blessed to live in.
... enough to drive down the road.. Good God. Thanks United for this early flight to San Francisco International.. My flight leaves at 5:25am and arrives at San Francisco by 6:00am. I will have a 7 hour, yes, you heard me right a 7 hour layover until my flight leaves at 13:30pm... Ouch!!! I better pack a bone or 2 for a snack! :-)
