... made it to our hotel in Oakhurst and checked in. Oakhurst is located at the base of Yosemite and about a 10min drive from the main gates to Yosemite National Park. It was about 5:30pm by then so we headed back in the car to one of the tourist spots in Yosemite, $20 for a weeks pass for us to go into the park as many times as we liked. We drove yo a beautiful spot that had trails to some enormous trees ...

100F (ing) degrees three days running. learned that I do not function well at high altitudes breathing forest fire smoke in extreme heat after a 4 day party. When will I ever learn. Perhaps he will come back for more of El Cap, as I know this would be something he'd love to be able to do.

... for multiple months on end sustainable.

During the nearly three weeks we had in the “Valley” the weather was unbeatable. Especially for May. Sure, there were a few rainy days, and a few windy days, but all in, nothing that stopped us from chipping away at our tick-list of climbs.

Moratorium (3 pitches, 5.11b) one day and Braille Book (6 pitches, 5.8) ...

... months in advance, so we were lucky to have found this one which was a bit out of the way but very quiet. I failed to mention bear boxes in my Sequoia post, so a quick note about those. We have camped in many places with bear-proof garbage cans, but we didn’t fully understand just how great a black bear’s sense of smell is until we enountered bear boxes. Starting in Sequoia, and at each stop since so far, every campsite is equipped with a metal ...
