Only to find out when we got back that with Noz behind me he could see every step we were taking, and apparently there was one point where we were very close to the edge! AH well, we survived! In the end we had to make a decision
about whether we would turn around and go back to Yosemite Pines for
the night or go through the Tioga Pass and down onto the other side
of Yosemite. We knew Hannah wanted to be in Wi-Fi range for her
birthday and so chose to carry on into Lee Vining, CA. The driving
back and then back into the park again was going to be too much for
Ben with his pain levels still being high.

The final descent into the valley could be tackled by two routes: the Mist Trail, which was a short but steep descent which passed two waterfalls, or the John Muir Trail, which was longer but shallower and therefore easier on the knees but didn't quite have the same views.
