Our next stop was Boothbay, Maine. I am in love with these quaint New England towns! We found a place to park and walked through downtown Boothbay. Some of the shops were still open so I was able to drop in a few. I was in search of a lobster trap buoy to bring home. After a few stores, I found exactly what I was looking for. ... and Maine and seeing the sign at the border. We made a quick "pit stop" (the last of hundreds) at a rest stop a few miles up the interstate. I remember smelling the pine trees during the early afternoon and welcomed the eventuality that in a couple of hours, we'll be "home" and in our own house, our own kitchen, living room, bathroom and, of course, our own bedroom and bed.

Breakfast at the b&b, then we walked to town to check on the boat schedule. Boat didn't leave until 1 so we walked around town then came back to the b&b for a while (I took a nap)...,walked back down to the pier for our boat trip. It was great! Cap'n Fish's Little Bit of Maine tour..,.2 hours long and the weather was gorgeous! Came back and had a quick snack ...

We came up to Boothbay via some of the little towns instead of on the interstate. Stopped in York at the Nubble Lighthouse, then drove down the beach road to go to Portland and Freeport. The beach is not anything like our beach, and there's a ton of seaweed that smells awful! We could smell it with the car windows closed! We had lunch at Becky's Diner in Portland. 3, 2, 1 ... Blastoff!!! Today is the day we head west. Ok, we have to go west from here to get anywhere.

The weather is NOT in our favor. Rain all day and cold - all up and down the eastern part of the country. We were toying with the idea of heading to South Carolina, maybe even Florida then heading seriously west but we are going to make our decision later as we work our way south.
