... upgraded to drinks petrol very quickly but it is such a lovely car to travel in.
We made a couple of stops but tried to keep them to a minimum. Boys were carrying on as we still hadn't stopped for "lunch" and it was nearly 3pm. Mind you they had been munching on plenty of snacks and drinks along he way. We finally stopped at a McDonalds that was just off the highway, ate there then straight back on our way. ...

... here) Unfortunately, our camera was unable to capture all this, due to the darkness.
Wildlife is abundant. Josh is very taken with the amount of squirrels running around and they are incredibly brazen. Ben has captured Blue Jays and deer but we are still waiting to have our first sighting of coyote and mountain lion!
So far, it has been like a Geography A'Level field trip! ...

... Veil Falls, we hiked about an hour in the HOT temperatures up to the base of the famous El Capitan. We hiked up to the Footstool Route ( 1-pitch, 5.4 ) located on the Southeast face of the base. We waited about 40 minutes for the route to go into the shade and cool down before we began climbing. While waiting around we did some math that if El Cap was Ben's height (5 ft 10 in), then climbing the Footstool route would be the equivalent of climbing the length of the big toe of ...

... As we drove down into the valley, we saw a large mama bear with her sweet cub following behind on a fallen log. All of these sights, and we hadn't made it to the campsite yet. Yosemite, how will you ever be topped? It's doubtful, and I am so glad to have had the experience that is Yosemite.
