... rewarding day, and the weather had been perfect, enhancing the views. We headed back to Evergreen feeling incredibly satisfied (and a little tired!) David and Alison decided that the hot tub at the hotel would soothe any aches and pains, whilst we stuck to the shower and got ready for dinner.

Dinner tasted fantastic and was even better as we all felt we deserved it. We feasted on American burgers, grilled chicken subs and hearty chef's salads.

... a drink, banana and a snack for tomorrow. We got back to the van and did some planning for our journey back to the coast and down highway 1. Think our plan is to see the elephant seals up near Santa Cruz. Luckily we spotted some showers on our walk back so nipped to them to have a shower. ... unfortunately was also dry, robbing us of the view of the beautiful surrounds reflected on the lake's surface. Again, the walk was beautiful and the views of the surrounding granite overhangs were gob-smacking. There was a warning to keep an eye out for mountain lions on this walk, especially if you had small children! Sam collected rocks along the way to throw at any lions that might dare to attack us! ... bed under a proper roof. The oldies of the group (Sylvia, Juan, Mandy and Marianne) took one cabin, while us awesome youngies (Elise, Ramona, Ben and myself) took the other. It was nice to have the space to chill, chat and relax without having to deal with the elements. It was sad that we didn't get to spend our last camping night in a tent, but we were definitely okay with having a roof over our heads should a storm show up in the middle of the night. ... might have guessed, apart from the hotel there is not much else around. The local grocery shop is 7 miles away and Yosemite entry another 3 mile from there. The pool worked perfectly well and the girls had a lot of fun jumping in and out.
