Gazing down into the rushing water, catching sight of rainbows dancing in the spray, we were enchanted by what lay before us. The spray here was gentle, but it still soaked us enough that it was easy to see how the raging waters of late spring could cause people to be drenched when gazing over the edge.

... became cold and sweaty. Further news was that the camp had run out of firewood and so no wood for the little tent stoves. As we were not allowed to collect wood we were looking at a cold night. Tom went into stealth mode and acquired kindling and paper and some legitimate wood.

Glen then drove us up through the tunnel and out to Glacier Point. This was unbelievable. If you only had an hour to spend at Yosemite this would be the place to go. ... After dinner, Gloria accompanied us on the park shuttle to the Ahwahnee, a VERY famous and "swellegant" hotel. John and I thought it was not quite what we had built it up to be but it is quite beautiful. The three of us did enjoy this adventure and when we returned to the Lodge, we caught the end of an outdoor film about the historic Firefall at Yosemite.

Although parking issues, shuttles and queues continued we managed to enjoy a hike through Mariposa Grove, the largest giant sequoia grove in the world.
