... the park. The surrounding mountains were illuminated a fiery red in the late afternoon sunshine and we spent time sharing stories with an Irish couple who were doing the same route as ours but in reverse. Pizza on the terrace finished our evening off perfectly, and we were ready for an early night, ready to be lulled to sleep by the sounds of Yosemite, ready for another day of incredible sights.
States added: Louisiana, Michigan, Kentucky, Maryland, Montana, Idaho. New count, ...

Sorry for the delay in the posts but if you read on, there is a genuine reason for not updating our blog..... Well, after Cruise America were happy for us to continue driving as it appeared the rattle wasn't engine related, we set off for Yosemite Valley only to go a couple of miles down the road and then disaster struck!!! The rattle turned into a big bang and all we could here was a loud grinding noise coming from underneath the van. Now it's not ...

She suggested we went down 41 towards Fresno and onto the expressway to Vegas in 6 hours. I said I didn't want to go that way - I wanted to go through Death Valley. ... He advised a route to the south, which would take about 8 hours, plus stops, of course and be over 430 miles. Very sweetly he printed it out for us.
I was not convinced, and asked about a route going north, but he cautioned against it due to weather conditions etc. and said it would be about the same distance and probably impassable anyway.

... We made a few other stops at places like the Elephant Seal Rookery at Piedras Blancas, Pismo Beach, and much more. We get closer to Santa Barbara. We were doing great for time... it was about 2pm and we were only 2 hours or less from Burbank. However, things were about to change.
