... day was back to the valley floor and the Yosemite Village where the area was serviced by shuttle buses to all the attractions. We walked to the Mirror Lake situated in a meadow surrounded by huge imposing granite cliffs. A special place to sit and enjoy lunch and watch the birds, squirrels and human families bouncing around.

Ready, Ben made the first Tyrolean across and trailed the third rope behind him to set up a backup. I belayed him from the spire as we discussed in the unfortunate event that the rope snapped and he fell. It would be a catastrophic fall if this happened, we knew, but it would probably save his life.

We slowed down to see a group of about 5 deer cross the road and the car behind me got really irate. Did they even see the deer? I doubt it.
We stopped again a little further on, when Jetter spotted a bear.

Of course we wanted to stop and watch that! But every car but one whistled past, totally oblivious.
