    The Oasis on Lake Travis

    and driving out of town we detoured to visit 'Circuit of the Americas' F1 race track.

    Then Lynn drove through one of the most intense rain storms we have ever encountered ..... a real nail biter with hands glued to the steering wheel.

I went down to the credit union and within a half hour later I walked out of there with a $40,000 loan (I don't know if I'll need the full amount, but better safe than sorry) with a 1.59% interest rate....boomshakalaka!!! We checked in the hotel, walked down to 6th Street, to the nightclub district, walked in the Driskill Hotel, the old historic hotel, which is quite spectacular, then through downtown to the Colorado River and Lady Bird Lake. Wanted Jane to see the Congress Street Bridge, where at least ONE MILLION fruit bats live. In the summertime, they all come out at dusk. It is a truly amazing site.     Our swim was refreshing! Baton Springs is very much like the Pemeberton town pool. It is a man made pool set in the river. So while the river water temperature does not change, you find it cool due to your body temp being so hot from the weather outside! This temperature inside the springs was a year round stable of 68 deg Fahrenheit! Those working in Celsius, trust me that's very cool and refreshing! What topped off this cool down was the live blues ...
