A travel blog entry by alimaterna on Jun 25, 2014

We got up at 5:30 with Yahav to make our way to the bus station and jump aboard the bus to Monteverde. It's a little colder in San Jose, and it's a really ugly city with hookers riddling every corner. After 4 and a half hour windy bus journey, we arrived. So after checking in, we put our things upstairs and went on the search to find some breakfast. There was an awesome Colombian Panaderia about two blocks away from the hotel. We ate some delicious empanadas which was the perfect fuel after a long bus ride. Now it was time to explore the city! Since everything was ...

Rural Costa Rica is such a pleasure. The gardens are manicured, the gates and houses painted. Schools are up and functioning and well maintained. Farms are neat and organized and usually mechanized. One feels in the presence of something that works. This was further reinforced when I found the small village of Pozo Azul, a few km off the main road. Gordon spent almost two weeks there this summer with his service ...
