Grenada...The Spice Island

We arrived in port on the island of Grenada about 7:00 this morning. We were met by a local tour guide, Mandoo, who owns his own tour business and has a very nice 10 passenger van. He was dressed in a white shirt and pants looking like a ship crew member. We soon found out that he was very articulate and had a huge amount of knowledge and pride ...

Rockin and rolling into Grenada

Grenada. Temperature 30C

Well, we rocked and rolled and creaked our way into Grenada overnight. I had forgotten how much movement there is in a small ship. Berthed next to the Grand Princess here in Grenada we are tiny and are bobbing about like a cork while she remains rock solid! Even anchored in port we are shaking and rolling. The c...

Granada

Woke up late – off to breakfast as Bill & Ros were off to the beach! Walked into town and decided to catch a bus to the beach (a $1 each – we sat on the fold down extra seats) where we immediately met Bill & Ros. Both went swimming again in crystal clear, warm water. Temperatures again in the high 80s. Caught the ferry back t...

Drivers liscence not required

So,
Went to the masaya markets, makes you really wonder why Canadian Health organizations are so anal retentive about sanitary practices. There are pieces of meat, sitting in blazing heat, with flies all over them, everywhere. You can also buy half dead chickens, vegetarians must just be ******. Started my spanish classes as well. Fun Fact:...

Grenada's highlights & scenic drive

Dear Blog,

This morning, the Caribbean Princess made its way to beautiful GRENADA. We arrived at 12:00pm and had the luxury of sleeping in, of taking a relaxed breakfast plus having lunch on the ship before running to the disembarkation deck.

As the ship made its way to the port, my first impression of the island was the beauty...

Day at Sea

A day at sea to travel the 500 or so nautical miles between Dominican Republic and Grenada. Up early for a lifeboat drill, then to the pool to sunbathe and read. Generally a lazy day on board. Hot and sunny - I am feeling the Christmas spirit with a hugely red Rudolph nose (sunburnt!...) Down to dinner on the ship (very nice), watched the Entert...

The main street is about 200metres long, all the buildings look old, faded and in need of a bit of tlc.. i try the tourist office for a map of carriacou as my LP doesn't have one but it's a saturday and office is closed, by mid afternoon the whole town pretty much clo...
