... a heron along the river for a long way. We would get too close and off he flew up to another landing and did that 3 times until he decided to go into a small inlet. Those birds just don't seem to want to pose for their photos! We did include some photos that were good.

Saw some beaver, otters and other birds. Most too far for good photos. The trip on the river this week gave Marilyn a chance to experiment with her camera with new ...

8:50am Sea mist. It's lovely but when coupled with a stiff breeze it infuses everything with damp and the cold. Bracing, others might call it. I can see my breath. And so my camping sweater continues to be a staple. The trees above hold what moisture they can and then rain down beneath them. I strolled (ten steps) down to the beach this morning while everyone was still sleeping. I found the beach barren, draped in mist, furnished by driftwood. ...

It sits on a pretty bluff over the ocean, with barking sea lions and seals and pelicans on the rocks in the ocean below. It's part of the Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area, well named. Near the lighthouse is Cobblestone Beach, made up of different sizes of cobblestones that make magical sounds when the surf slides over them.

The wind howled last night but we were comfortable – Don was able to sleep once we put the slides in to reduce the noise around midnight! The guy next to us with a 5th wheel unit couldn't get his jacks down to stabilize his unit earlier in the evening because his unit was rocking in the wind! We are heavy enough and positioned with our tail end to the wind so we didn’t have any problems.
