Have had two Belgium beers so far at the cafe next door to where I'm staying (dangerous) and have purchased a map and made friends with the dog downstairs at the newsagent - turns out she loves Schmackos (the dog - not the owner, but you never know).

... with breads and salads and Monique had worked really hard and had prepared all the yummiest food; meats, sausages, steak, chicken, pork medallions and sate sauce too,which I loved. The evening finished with us eating all the chocolates in front of the fire place, yum! Tomorrow the Efteling and I can't wait for that. ... Drinking, laughing, and fine dining ensued, and we left with smiles frozen on our faces. The food was delicious, but the company we had only made it better. Being away from home is hard, especially on a long trip, but to each of the members at that table - I thank you. Today was a fantastic day, and I have a newly minted appreciation for Brussels and Belgium as a whole. With the early train to catch, I bid you all a good day and good night. Rob and I walked up to the top of Butte du Lion; it had wonderful views of the battle fields/farms around. We hung out up there soaking it all in and listening the all the accents around us. Belgium is so central that you have all nationalities here, and they all speak French, English, Dutch, Flemish or German. Madness! It was so nice to hear a mother chat to her kids in English ...
