explore. We passed by some clockwise hikers and as usual they saw Manny and
thought he was a bear cub. It never fails. After about an hour we made it to
the board walk and a section with massive cedar trees. We found a comfy set on
the split timber and enjoyed our sandwiches. The hike was much easier on the
board walk. Back at the starting point we had to wait about 30 minutes for the
      taxi to return. There ...

Matthew enjoyed 2 days surfing on Cox Bay with Jethro & Jonny (from Tofino Surf School) located within the town. The first day was a little foggy but the surf was good. Enjoyed a cup of coffee by the foreshore what we could see as the sea mist had set in. The sea mist was very thick as we started our drive to Tofino hope it lifts so we can enjoy the scenery. Ucluelet is at one end of the peninsular and Tofino is at the other and is a little town that swells with tourist. In the summer the surfers come to Long Beach a 16 mile stretch of surfing beach including Green Point, Combers Beach ...

... arrived at the interpretive centre in time to catch a fascinating talk by a local Indian ranger. Everywhere you turn on the island there is reference to "First Nation" people – whether crafts, language, food. Vancouver Island had numerous tribes, who dug out canoes and hunted whales. We got told about the relationship with the cedar tree, and how much the people relied on it for so many aspects of their life. We made our own little rope out of cedar bark - ...
