When we set out this morning to explore Lucca at around 10:00am it was absolutely pouring with rain and it looked like we were going to be in for a pretty difficult day but luckily within an hour it started to clear making way for a very pleasant day.

After a day of walking all over Lucca we've learnt to appreciate the attributes of this city. The most memorable features for us being the ...

It was a fabulous tour, chock-full of interesting historical information from our guide, whose knowledge and endearing personality added another dimension to the experience. Terri and I loved the train trip wearing our identical myers' Regatta pants! We initially went to the San Martino Cathedral, which was absolutely ...

Ahhhhh Lucca Lucca Lucca. What an amazing place! I am writing this after the fact, so I can say it was my most enjoyable part of visiting Florence. If we do Le Grand Tour again, I will be sure we stay not only there but also do it for more than one day.

So after a sleep in ahem...(apologies but I love my snoozies), we clambered onto a train to Pisa. Pisa, as everyone knows is all about it's Leaning Tower. So all ...

Sunny and hot After our marathon day in the car yesterday, we had another one ahead of us today, but on trains this time. We awoke at about 7.30 am after crashing at 10.0 pm the night before. Jack said he was asleep before his head hit the pillow and I don't doubt it for a moment. He had done a great job driving us through Provence; virtually being the driver and the Navigator the whole time because I am absolutely useless at reading maps. And ...
