It's very beautiful, peaceful, and lacking the maddening crowds of Florence.
Lucca is also famous for hosting the annual Lucca Summer Festival.
The 2013 edition sees Neil Young, Mark Knopfler, The Killers, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, 30 seconds to Mars, Sigur Ros, and others play live ...

... teachers. We had a visit to Puccini's summer house at Torre del Lago, 'hands in' cooking lessons & how to play Italian card games, Italian movies (no subtitles) and tour of the original local produce stores, Puccini's home/now museum & monuments/churches from a local point of view - very interesting. Noel didn't participate in the lessons so he just joined in our social activities and traditional apertivi - plus enjoyed the company of our new found ...
