... up talking about Foo Fighters and Nirvana and how we could both agree that Dave Grohl is one of the greatest drummers to grace our generation. When he arrived at the church, we joked about the homeless man sleeping on the steps. I think he said something along the lines of "welcome to scotland". People here are so generous to the homeless and I think it's really wonderful. Even if they are sleeping, I will see locals throw money on them. I walked up the steps ...

... t really had a proper lunch and was starving! I went to a Pizza Express just off the Royal Mile, and had a massive pizza and a larger-than-expected piece of tiramisu for dessert. After that it was probably a good thing I walked back to the hotel...

    Welcome to Scotland!

... spot for a magazine publisher. The island as a whole is very natural-looking, and not too touristy...they have kept it as part of a wildlife refuge, too. We heard a bagpiper as we walked up the long drive from the parking lot, saw boats out of the water at low tide, and, like many other people like us, wandered the island for a few hours to get an idea of why a place that isn't very well known is really significant.

... given about this place, we looked on and around the washer, before concluding that there was no dryer. Both of us were confused because this is an apartment people use as a vacation home and why would they have a washer, but no way to dry your clothes? We pulled everything out and draped it across the chairs and couch in the living room and turn on the heater, hoping that at least a few items would be dry in the morning.

This morning, the only morning we don't have ...
