... back to the time of Jesus of Nazareth such that it could be his burial shroud. The Shroud has been photographed, carbon dated, and examined numerous times over the centuries without any clear and convincing evidence that is acceptable to everyone that it is either real or an ongoing Medieval hoax. The shroud is kept in the royal chapel of the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist in Turin under a papal decree that is can never be removed from Turin. Adding to ...

Day 294 2 hrs, 3.4 kms I thought I could catch a train from Bra on east to Asti, but no... I have to backtrack a long ways and make a big looparound unfortunately. This really sets me behind and I suddenly realize that if I'm going to visit both Asti and Allessandra provinces today, I'm going to have to make this a very short visit. ...

I get off the train just as high school students get out for lunch break and join a crowd of them in a doner shop for a sandwich shop. Nice town to wander around in, with part of the city up on a ridge, with some castle like homes... and yes, you can buy a bra in Bra, in case you were ...

Day 294 3 hrs, 1.7 kms Now it's time to head east completing my Piedmont loop. I've still got two more provinces to do, but I should still be able to squeeze a couple towns along the way. My first stop, Cavallomaggiore is a small town with lots and lots of churches... several in each block. I stop in a shop and the shopkeeper gets to chatting with me and I ask her about it. "People are quite religious here" she goes on to tell me about the religious trips she has gone ...

... as to how to get there by bus. Of course, I don't travel by bus, I travel on foot. I guess I might as well go looking for it--I need to wander around Torino anyways... So off I go into the night, along a long river park where there's a rock concert going on, and groups of young people clustered together doing drugs. Then, out of the blue, a very cheery sight: a well preserved medieval castle/town all by itself. with shops serving medieval ...
