So thankful for ricks driving.... Went through underground bridge, many long over the water bridges and lots of miles today. Saw Mississippi, Alabama, and now in Florida. Takes 2 days to get through Texas and 2 hours to get through Mississippi and Alabama. Drove through New Orleans but didn't stop. Do have an answer to one of our questions... No, eating creole food doesn't help with Mosquitos. Oh well, didn't hurt to try! We did find ...

... lights in place of the oil lamp it was originally equipped with. Before electricity, the lighthouse keeper had to refill the kerosene three times each night. This was done by walking up the stairs carrying the cans of kerosene which weighed about 35 pounds or so. This while carrying a lantern in the other hand. Can't imagine doing that. The structure is 150' tall and is constructed of brick.
