    ... 20 year olds hanging out in what I would call gothic attire. As I was doing laundry they would in turn just scream - not in pain or for help, just like releasing frustration at the world. My thought is maybe they are just trying to scare the tourists - it was beginning to work on me. I finished and ensured I was on the other side of the street with other tourists when I passed this crew. Made it to the hotel, and had a nice club sandwich and beer at the Dominican Hotel. Great night ...

    ... canal alongside some others. Knocking on the door gave no answer, so Michael telephoned the number, but no answer. We were wondering what to do next, when the phone rang us, and he said he would be here in ten minutes. He arrived on a bike, and showed us to the door, and all the special things we had to do. It wasn't too bad, bunk beds with a shower and toilet. Clean enough, but felt like camping, and there was a fishy smell up ...

    ... a sweet waffle with mocha ice cream and chocolate drizzle on top and Pete had an espresso while Becky had a café glacé (coffee with ice cream in it). Mike and I shared a sweet waffle with fresh strawberries, whipped cream, and dark chocolate syrup with Mike and I both having an espresso. This was SO good! I just wish I could eat more or even bring some home with me.

    ... hello and goodnight. However, tonight we were all joining together, which was fun.
    Good company over dinner, after which we joined some of the others in the bar.Whilst the F&Bs went off to bed, we were left with BJ, MA, SI and a few others over Baileys and Cointreau where the discussion ranged over nicknames one tends to give to our fellow travellers...

    ... this ponderous state of mind, whilst I sat at St Pancras International gazing romantically at the list of evocative departures, when I was pulled dramatically back to reality. A lumbersome, lone man had plonked himself down on the next seat, so close that our thighs gently brushed each others with any slight adjustment. I had barely pulled my gaze from the departure board before the waft of the morning drunk filled my nostrils.
