I'm spending 2 more nights in Durban with a nice couple I found on couchsurfing.org. Margaret is an environmental consultant working on transportation issues for the city of Durban, and Gavin is a professional clown. They've given me a private guest room and various rides around town, which is great because public ...
Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa naomi7... started to put my stuff in one of them only to realize that it had been broken into from the side making it completely useless. There was another one that I was able to use but it would be so easy to just break into it.
There was also no internet access at that time as it was after 8pm – Great! I need to get the details for the Sani Pass Tour tomorrow but I am sure I can get that from the airport.
... again sitting on the stairs at uShaka Marine World in Durban watching the Dolphin show. These graceful creatures always seem to entertain through their displays of speed, high jumps and sometimes squeaky noises. It was also fantastic to see Gambit - the oldest Dolphin in the park and the largest bottle-nosed dolphin in captivity to perform his tricks and it was weird to think ...
Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa nixsboys... is the distrust. This pressure has uet to produce strong diamonds among the people. A strange example of the mountains these people must climb comes from the wine country. For years the (white) winery owners paid their workers in part with wine. On Friday night the workers would go home with a large jug of wine and party... dragging themselves to work on Monday morning. Thios led to a problem with alcoholism (much to the surprise ...

South Africa is really... white. Durban is dangerous at night and there
is a huge mall. They have blackouts every day for two hours at two in
the afternoon, and even the malls shut down.
... type of skin cancer that moves very quickly in AIDS patients and causes unsightly, raised lesions to grow in this patient's case in her right lung, the lining of her mouth, ears, eyes, and throughout her limbs and torso. While KS is not curable, the lesions can be contained and palliatated if treatment is begun soon enough for both the AIDS and KS. Unfortunately, this young woman was no longer able to open her eyes or ...
Durban, South Africa rroesch... the civil and humanitarian rights of the Iraqi people. I probably won't post again for anther two weeks as my long-time friend from GWU, Sami, is flying into Durban this Tuesday afternoon, the 5th. I'm taking my spring break early. We're going to spend Thursday in Durban and then head out in a rental car on Friday, the 8th, to Cape Town via the Garden Route, which is supposed to be spectacular. I'll fly back to Durban from Cape Town on Wednesday ...
Durban, South Africa die_sunny... a baby until the border; the landscape I glimpsed whenever jolted awake by a speedbump was very like that I had seen in yesterday's journey through Eastern Swaziland: gently sloped hills, burnt yellow and red by the winter sun. The border crossing was quick and easy, and before I knew it I was in South Africa, the twelfth and final country of my trip. For the first hour or so of the drive from the border we passed through game reserves made up of dense bush, coloured shades ...
Durban, South Africa reef... few short weeks ago Tina had just given birth to a beautiful baby girl. Right from the get go they gave me my own room and told me to consider anything in the frige my own. My 2 days 3 nights spent with them gave me the opportunity to do the little, normal things in life you don't so often get to do while away on a backpacking trip; update my health shots, spent a whole day at the mall (shopping for little things here and there), and Dinning out with already good friends.
